Assessment

Students may seek screening through the Counseling Center’s Initial Appointment (IA) process. The IA counselor will be able to determine how in depth the assessment needs to be and make recommendations about how to proceed. The counselor may encourage the student to participate in a formal alcohol and other drug assessment through the Alcohol and Other Drug Office. This is a voluntary process that helps a specialist to look at the situation and determine what recommendations are appropriate. This process is strictly confidential.

Referral

Several referral options exists for students with alcohol and other drug concerns both on and off campus. Counselors are able to help students link with the resources on campus and in the community that will best meet their needs. Some examples include educational workshops, further assessment, individual counseling, group therapy, and referral to a medically managed agency.
